“Skin on skin” exhibition
Artist statement:
Mea explores the value of enhancing tactile perception in her photographic practice, encouraging acts of touch that lead to a more fulfilling creative experience. Led by her research question “How do haptics alter the experience of image making in the age of mechanical reproduction?”, this body of work presents as primary research. While traditional hands-on methods such as cyanotypes foster intimacy and personal engagement, large-scale mechanical prints offer impactful visual experiences. Mea depicts the two processes to allow the audience to come to their own conclusion. Skin-on-Skin depicts the human form, with particular reference to the transfer of touch from the creator.
